Sanjay and Nay _and friends

A night of new performance curated by Sanjay Lago and Nay Dhanak. Produced by _and friends.

Offering an alternative model to producing new theatre, _and friends is a night of new performance accompanied by artist development opportunities curated by a different guest curator each time.

OUR CURATORS

Sanjay is a queer Indian neurodiverse actor, writer, facilitator and comedian. He has been in the industry for over 10 years.

“As an artist I’m interested in unhear voices being heard in the theatre world, interested in diversity as i see the lack of representation. Scotland is diverse yet we don’t see it. Where are the south Asian? The Latinx voices? I’m also interested in education and feel the arts are a powerful tool to educate as well as enjoyment.”

Nay Dhanak is a queer & Indian playwright, dramaturg, and producer. Their first play, Pain Threshold, was a gig theatre show tackling transness and chronic pain, which received a sold-out student-theatre debut.

Nay loves to make theatre that combines the political and the emotional, and that asks how we might imagine a new world through a new kind of storytelling. They’re interested in transness and its ability to help us all with the making of our own futures. They love working with new writing, particularly work from global majority and trans artists.
