BAKED BEANS ON THE DOORSTEP JANUARY

Even Sisters

Even Sisters is Robert Dallas Gray and Isobel McKenna creating improvised music which centers around Isobel’s vocals and guitar and a 1962 tape echo.

Georgia Harris and Rob Alexander

Georgia is a dancer, musician, writer, improviser and lover of the wacky, wild and weird in us all. An absolute legend. Scientist in recovery. Come get your head checked with me and even bigger legend ROBERT ALEXANDER as we explore the sonic wonders of MRI scans. I do nothing but self mythologise all day and teach math(s). Rob plays in so many bands you know and love and has been documenting the DIY music scene for years. He’s a musical polymath, computer hacker, and totally the best egg ever.

Stephanie Lamprea and Anne Kjær

Colombian-American soprano Stephanie Lamprea is an architect of new sounds and expressions as a performer, composer, and multidisciplinary artist, specializing in contemporary classical repertoire. Trained as an operatic coloratura, she uses her voice as a mechanism of avant-garde performance art, creating “maniacal shifts of vocal production and character… like an icepick through the skull” (Jason Eckardt). Her work has been described as “stunning, harrowing, agonising, sonorous…” by The Observer, and “divinely deranged” by The Herald. She has performed as a soloist at Roulette Intermedium, Constellation Chicago, Sound Scotland, Kings Place, Southbank Centre, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, CCA Glasgow, the Hidden Door Festival, and the Casa da Música (Porto). She has released albums Quaking Aspen, Georges Aperghis’ 14 Récitations, and Don’t Add to Heartache to international critical acclaim. Stephanie has also collaborated with Riot Ensemble, International Contemporary Ensemble, the City of London Sinfonia, Sō Percussion, and Post Coal Prom Queen. http://www.stephanielamprea.com/

Anne Kjær is a Glasgow-based transdisciplinary artist, making contemporary work at the intersection of theatre, dance, music, film, and installation. With skills as a director, performer, and composer, she often inhabits multiple roles through her artistic leadership. She examines the human condition through work that is immersive, multisensorial, sometimes improvisatory, emotionally delicate and informed by her own neurodivergence. The body is the centre of her practice: its movements, stories, and capacity for communication and connection. Anne is interested in collaboration between people, disciplines and technologies as well as in creative processes led by an ethics of care and radical honesty. https://www.annekjaer.org/
