EGO DEPLETION and very special guest
EGO DEPLETION is a casual molotov cocktail of unmeasurable blueprints. It is the Iron Chef playing Badminton with Shakes the Clown while Sister Corita Kent watches from the sidelines. Its first impulse is subtracted from the overall net of intentions. For example, sound is produced for the sole purpose of abseiling clogged and crystallized hierarchies and putting it all to rest. Speakers and surfaces are thoroughly interrogated yielding a steady diet of perpetual come down. EGO DEPLETION is Adam Campbell & Fritz Welch. On the occasion of this concert they will be joined by a very special guest whose identity must be kept secret due to contractual restrictions….
Nic Krog
As a music and sound artist, Nic Krog’s signature is a distinct and volatile blend of bass-heavy
club music juxtaposed with subversive sound art and spoken word. Their artistic trajectory is
characterized through a diaristic approach, recounting mental processes and psychological
baggage from growing up as a queer outlier in a smalltown of Denmark. The work traces the
metamorphosis of the colloquial introvert to their negotiation of place in the hedonistic capital of
Berlin, Germany. Their debut album “Reproaching the Absurd” (released under former artist
moniker Misantrop by Opal Tapes in 2021), explored the artist’s enduring struggle with
depression while their forthcoming release, the audio play “Perfect Pattern” (Psychic Liberation,
2025), is a first foray an overt narrative style, presenting a raw portrayal of a different kind of
emotional and psychological self-awareness. Twentieth century experimental compositional
music, queer house music from the 90s, and most significantly the storytelling of soap operas
and Jean-Luc Godard’s “Le Mépris” are the formal canon that reinforces the architecture of
“Perfect Pattern”. Nic Krog is an artist of the SHAPE+ platform for innovative music and interdisciplinary art,
co-funded by the European Union and Pro Helvetia.
